Laskay Emporium and Post Office
1856
Original Location: Laskey, Ontario (King Township)
The general store and post office that Mr. Joseph Baldwin built in 1845 served customers well into the 20th century. There was a store room with the store and flanking that was an open front horse and buggy shed. The store was saved from demolition and brought to Black Creek Pioneer Village on February 19th, 1960. Restoration of the building to circa 1845 was conducted including the reconstruction of the store room based on historical documents. The frame structure has a 'boom town' front, with a long slope roofed veranda that was reconstructed based on photographic evidence circa 1911.

Daniel Stong's Second House
On Thursday, Black Creek Pioneer Village opened for the
season and not only was I there but so were good weather and light conditions!
The red building is Daniel Stong's second house, still on the same
location as when he built it. So, too, is his first house which is the log cabin
on the furthest left of the picture.

I was standing on the corner of the veranda of Second House to
see this lovely pastoral view.

Chickadees
Ever since I was a child I've loved the sound
of the chickadee. I have a new telephoto lens which I'm
still learning to work with and it's enabled me to finally
get some shots of these sweet little birds.

I'm so glad you've found your way to this site. I hope you enjoy
the photos and are able to find your way around easily.
Photography never seems to get 'old' for me
and is always a source of great fun.
In these pages I hope to share my idea of fun with you.

In these pages I hope to share my idea of fun with you.
Every photographer has their own way of looking at the world
through their lens. My way appears to be developing by
continually learning to watch the light and how it affects
a particular scene or object. I often repeat the words, 'watch the light'
to myself when I'm out and about with my camera. I seem to
need to constantly remind myself!
Posts and pages will be added as I muddle along with still life or
trudge through the snow trying to get that perfect winter shot......
and I'll share some of the comical
and I'll share some of the comical
things that happen and interesting people I meet.
Thanks for stopping by!
